December 15, 2017

IMPORTANT REMINDERS

In order to ensure students arrive to school on time, please consider adding an extra 5 - 10 minutes to your morning commute to offset the two new stop lights on Woodcreek Oaks Blvd. Students that arrive at their classrooms after 8:40 will be regarded as tardy and will need to obtain a tardy slip from the office. The playground opens for supervision at 8:25 and you are welcome to drop students off for some extra playtime before school starts.

School telephones may be used by students to notify parents of the need to stay after school to complete missed work, in the event of missing the bus, illness, accident, or other unforeseeable situation. Phone messages for students from parents/guardians should/will be emailed to the teachers and relayed to the student. Please note: except in the case of a legitimate emergency, classroom instruction will not be interrupted to get messages  to students.

The Blue Oaks School Office will close at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 22 and will remain closed until Tuesday, January 9th for Winter Break.

WALK TO SCHOOL WEDNESDAY
Our next Walk to School is coming up on Wednesday, December 20th! PTC will have a special treat for all students that participate by walking to school that day!

GATE IDENTIFICATION

The 2018-2019 school year GATE identification test will be administered at the District Office for students currently in 2nd – 7th  grade.  The students will take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test, OLSAT, that tests abstract thinking and reasoning ability.  Students must attend one of the testing dates on the OLSAT Parent Permission Form in order to complete the testing by the district.  The Parent Permission Forms are available on our district website @ www.rcsdk8.org under the “Parent” tab.  All forms must be returned to the District Office by January 5, 2018 if you would like your student tested. There are no exceptions as materials are ordered based on the number of returned forms.  Make sure you check the district website under the “Parents” tab for more information regarding GATE services and testing.

Forms may also be turned into the Blue Oaks school office, but must be received no later than Wednesday, December 20th.
