This is a new collection process for Box Tops this year!!! Save up your Box Tops in groups of 25.

Weekly Housekeeping Suggestions & Tips /Dress Code
Certain dress apparel is not allowed on campus because of the distractions it causes or because of
safety reasons. Students will be expected to dress in an appropriate manner at all times at Blue Oaks.
The dress code is not intended to list items that are appropriate or inappropriate to wear. Its purpose is
to give guidelines for what is appropriate and inappropriate clothing for school.

  • Shoes must be worn at all times. Sandals must have straps on the back (No flip flops or high heels).
  • Clothing should be free of writing, pictures, or any other insignia, which are crude, vulgar, profane, or deemed inappropriate for school attire.
  • Clothing must conceal undergarments at all times. See through shirts, tank tops, halter-tops, spaghetti strap shirts (straps must be at least two fingers wide), low cut tops, bare midriffs, tight shorts, and very short skirts or shorts are prohibited. Pants must be worn around the waist not hanging below mid section.
  • No make up for any students
  • Hair shall be clean and neatly groomed. Hair may not be sprayed with any color that would drip when wet. Students arriving at school with colored hair will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If the hair is a distraction to the learning environment, then the student will be referred home to remove the color from the hair.
If your child does come to school with items that do not follow the dress code, you will receive a phone call
requesting that you bring appropriate attire or asking you to pick up your child. the administration reserves the right to address dress code issues which may not specifically be listed above when they interrupt the learning for all students.

If you have any questions please contact the school office directly or click here to review our
Parent/Student Handbook. Thank you.

Girls on the Run 5K
CONGRATULATIONS to our girls on a successful inaugural GOTR season and a race well done!
Red Nose Day
It is almost Red Nose Day - Red Nose Day??? What is that? I'm glad you asked! One of our very own
student council representatives and 4th grade student, Evie proposed the idea to have Red Nose Day
here at Blue Oaks.

Red Nose Day is on Thursday, May 24. Red Nose Day was started by the Comic Relief Foundation and
Walgreens to help raise money for children in poverty in the United States. The proceeds go to children
and families living in poverty to buy food, clothing and healthcare.

Blue Oaks began selling the Red Noses for $1 during Open House and will continue to sell during recess
until they are all gone (hopefully!) for students to purchase and participate in Red Nose Day. Every dollar
will go towards the foundation. Here is a link to the website that tells you more about it. If they are not
able to buy a Red Nose the students are encouraged to wear red to help raise awareness.

Weekly Housekeeping Suggestions & Tips / Lunch Procedures
Kindergarten through fifth grade students will eat lunch in the "Bears' Lair" multi-use room. Students may
bring lunch or purchase a school lunch. Students may pay for their lunches on a daily basis as they go
through the lunch line. However, prepaid lunch passes are preferable. Students whose accounts are
severely overdrawn may result in that student only being allowed to obtain food from the salad bar until
the balance is paid.

When visiting to eat lunch with your child, please, please only bring food for you and your child.
Students are not allowed to eat food provided by adults other than their parent/guardian unless
written permission has been provided. Upon written permission being provided from each child,
a maximum of two students may eat outside of the cafeteria as a guest of a parent.

If you have any questions please contact the school office directly or click here to review our
Parent/Student Handbook. Thank you.

Weekly Housekeeping Suggestions & Tips / Allergy Season
While the gorgeous Spring season brings us beautiful weather and flowers, it also brings
on severe allergies for many of our students. Below are some useful tips and links to help
keep students feeling their best during the allergy season. Important reminder… students
are NOT ALLOWED to bring any medication and/or sunscreen to school without following
certain procedures set up by the Roseville City School District. Please check in with
the office with any questions.

Take extra steps when pollen counts are high.
Seasonal allergy signs and symptoms can flare up when there's a lot of pollen in the air. These steps can help you reduce your exposure.
  • Monitor pollen and mold counts. Weather reports in newspapers and on radio and television often include the information during allergy seasons.
  • Keep windows and doors shut at home and in your car during allergy season.
  • To avoid pollen, know which pollens your are sensitive to and check pollen counts. In spring and summer, during tree and grass pollen season, levels are highest in the evening. In late summer and early fall, during ragweed pollen season, lels are highest in the morning.
  • Take a shower, wash your hair and change your clothes after you've been working or playing outdoors.
  • Wear a NIOSH-rated 95 filter mask, when mowing the lawn or doing other chores outdoors, and take appropriate medication beforehand.
  • Check your local TV or radio station, your local newspaper, or the Internet for pollen forecasts and current pollen levels.
  • If high pollen counts are forecasted, start taking allergy medications before your symptoms start.
  • Close doors and windows at night or any other time when pollen counts are high.
  • Avoid outdoor activity in the early morning when pollen counts are highest.
There's no miracle product that can eliminate all allergens from the air in your home, but these suggestions may help.
  • Use the air conditioning in your house and car.
  • If you have forced air heating or air conditioning in your house, use high-efficiency filters and follow regular maintenance schedules.
  • Keep indoor air dry with a dehumidifier.
  • Use a portable high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filter in your bedroom.
  • Clean floors often with a vacuum cleaner that has a HEPA filter.
