May 18, 2018 Blue Oaks Blog Post

Girls on the Run 5K
CONGRATULATIONS to our girls on a successful inaugural GOTR season and a race well done!
Red Nose Day
It is almost Red Nose Day - Red Nose Day??? What is that? I'm glad you asked! One of our very own
student council representatives and 4th grade student, Evie proposed the idea to have Red Nose Day
here at Blue Oaks.

Red Nose Day is on Thursday, May 24. Red Nose Day was started by the Comic Relief Foundation and
Walgreens to help raise money for children in poverty in the United States. The proceeds go to children
and families living in poverty to buy food, clothing and healthcare.

Blue Oaks began selling the Red Noses for $1 during Open House and will continue to sell during recess
until they are all gone (hopefully!) for students to purchase and participate in Red Nose Day. Every dollar
will go towards the foundation. Here is a link to the website that tells you more about it. If they are not
able to buy a Red Nose the students are encouraged to wear red to help raise awareness.

Weekly Housekeeping Suggestions & Tips / Lunch Procedures
Kindergarten through fifth grade students will eat lunch in the "Bears' Lair" multi-use room. Students may
bring lunch or purchase a school lunch. Students may pay for their lunches on a daily basis as they go
through the lunch line. However, prepaid lunch passes are preferable. Students whose accounts are
severely overdrawn may result in that student only being allowed to obtain food from the salad bar until
the balance is paid.

When visiting to eat lunch with your child, please, please only bring food for you and your child.
Students are not allowed to eat food provided by adults other than their parent/guardian unless
written permission has been provided. Upon written permission being provided from each child,
a maximum of two students may eat outside of the cafeteria as a guest of a parent.

If you have any questions please contact the school office directly or click here to review our
Parent/Student Handbook. Thank you.
