FROM THE DESK OF INTERIM PRINCIPAL KIKOSICKI

Welcome to the 3rd trimester! It's hard to believe that we are in our last trimester of
school. This is the perfect time to revisit the issue we receive the most feedback/
comments about on campus - the parking lot. Please remember that we provide
supervision from 8:25 am - 8:37 am before school. Students should be lining up to
enter their classroom at 8:37 am and in their seats to begin learning at 8:40 am.
If you are arriving after the gate is closing or closed you are considered tardy and
must get a tardy slip from the office before heading to class. Here are some helpful
hints to make sure your child is here on time and your commute to and from school
is as stress-free as possible:

1. If you are experiencing a congested parking lot, please consider leaving your
house 5 -10 minutes earlier. The parking area is least busy from 8:25 - 8:35 am.
2. Lay out school clothes the night before.
3. Keep shoes in one place.
4. Get your child to bed on time.
5. Prepare and organize for the next day the night before.

items not picked up by Friday, March 23 will be donated to charity!

MUSICAL PINS FOR SALE
Anyone interested in purchasing one can click here!  They are so cute and come in a
variety of sayings.  All proceeds benefit the school musical program.

SOCCER EQUIPMENT BIN DRIVE
Blue Oaks has been contacted by two Bear Alumni students (Samuel & Nathaniel)
currently attending Roseville High School and have been tasked with completing a
Global Citizen Project (GCP). This project is meant for them to impact our community
in a positive way through something they are passionate about. This would mean things
like playing the piano at a retirement home, organizing a flag football game where all
the proceeds go straight to a certain charity, or giving an anti-bullying presentation at
elementary schools throughout the area. For their GCP Samuel and Nathaniel have
decided they would create a used soccer equipment bin drive. All equipment donated
will got to a local charity in Davis called Second Touch Soccer. Second Touch Soccer is a
reliable charity that has been collecting gear from players and parents around the region.
They accept any soccer related equipment and clothes as long as the items are new or
slightly used. The organization then distributes these items throughout the world. This
includes places locally or in places such as Asia, Africa, or throughout Latin America.
Throughout the years they have collected thousands of jerseys, shorts, balls, cleats and
other equipment through donations. The drive will run through March 23 and donations
can be left in the Blue Oaks office.

WEEKLY HOUSEKEEPING ITEMS - ATTENDANCE/TARDIES
Absences and tardies affect the learning of all students on campus. Please do your best to
ensure students are at school on time each and every day. When your child is absent, a
parent or guardian is required to call the Absence Hotline (771-1700, option 1) the
morning of the absence stating the reason for the absence. If we do not receive a note,
email, or voicemail, you will receive a call from school personnel to verify the absence.
If the absence is still not verified, it will be considered an unexcused absence.

Children who arrive at their classrooms after the official start time will be regarded
as tardy. Tardy students must report to the office for a tardy pass before going to class.
Tardy students disrupt instruction for their classmates, in addition to creating a hardship
for themselves and their teachers.

The number one determinant of success in school is regular and timely attendance. Please
make every effort to schedule trips and vacations – and medical appointments – before
or after school hours.
